Local Business judged most Energy Efficient in the UK

The UK’s gas safety watchdog CORGI, has awarded local company A. J. Buchan Ltd with the Energy Efficient Installer of the Year accolade at the annual CORGI Awards ceremony at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry on September 20th.

AJ Buchan is based at the Cotswold Efficient Energy Centre where they have working displays of Solar water heating, Ground and Air Source heat pumps, natural SunPipe lighting and Rain harvesting. As well as installation they also educate the public, students, architects and council staff at the centre.

Commenting on AJ Buchan’s efforts the CORGI Awards judging panel said they were impressed with the company’s dedication to not only offering renewable technology to their customers but to ensuring that they use the technology themselves in their business showroom.

On winning the Energy Efficient Installer of the Year award company director Andy Buchan said:

"To win such a prestigious award as the Efficient Energy Installer of the year was a pleasant shock and after two weeks it still has not sunk in. During the past two years we have been proactive in promoting energy efficiency and we now have find it is paying off, not only in the awards we have won, but also the satisfaction of educating customers of how important it is to preserve our resources. This we are able to do through our showroom at our efficient energy centre".

"Winning the CORGI award will add to this awareness and can only be good for energy efficiency. CORGI is now a well respected household name within the heating market and to display the award in our showroom will add credence to our crusade. Our installation team is enthusiastic in installing condensing boilers, solar systems, heat pumps and rain harvesting systems and are enjoying learning the new skills required. We as a company are also pleased with our association with Worcester Bosch who has been instrumental in our involvement with efficient energy products and for the training and support they have provided".

The AJ Buchan showroom uses Sun Pipes to provide natural lighting whilst remaining carbon neutral, and outside in their car park is a fully functional rain harvest system that provides water for the toilet block and vehicle washing. The company holds full certification with the Low Carbon Building Program to obtain grants for customers wishing to install products that rely on renewable and sustainable energy supplies.

The CORGI Awards have been dubbed the ‘Oscars of the Gas Industry’ and are a wonderful opportunity to recognise excellence and reward those people, products and services committed to gas safety and improving the industry.
